Many NonEEA candidates who are already living in the UK struggle to find the opportunity to practice their clinical skills before taking the College of Optometrist’s Examination for NonEEA Qualified Optometrists. To that end, CLEARVIEW Training tutors will be hosting some supervised practice sessions at regular intervals over the coming year at the City University’s Fight for Sight Optometry Clinic where they exams are currently held.
Tutors will be able to guide you on exam technique and run through mock exams where possible, giving you the best opportunity to brush up your practical skills and prepare you for the exams.

CLEARVIEW Training has hosted the City University Pre-registration programme for the past 6 years.
This year delegates had the opportunity to run though full mock exams in all of the practical subjects, Ocular Disease Stations, Ocular Disease Vivas, The Routine Exam and the Contact Lens Exam. Additional lectures and workshops on the Clinical Decision Making Exam supported the programme of events.
David Gilbert, from Flame Health Ltd supported the programme with a presentation titled, ‘The Way Forward,’ during which he discussed the current optometry employment marketplace and ran through interview techniques with delegates. ‘It was a nice touch,’ reported one delegate, ‘as I have a job interview next week!’

On 21st and 22nd April 2008, CLEARVIEW Training teamed up with leading international recruitment consultancy, Bev Meekel Consulting to deliver Preparation Seminar for optometrists looking to work in Australia, New Zealand or the United Kingdom.
The seminar provided informed insight into the requirements of the Australian and British examinations in terms of the examinations which South African optometrists must pass in order to practice in those countries.
A team of three presenters from CLEARVIEW Training, Jane Macnaughton, Joy Myint and Catherine Viner helped to provide an intense 2 day exposure to what lies ahead for those who intend to relocate either temporarily or permanently.
Over 40 delegates from across the South Africa attended the seminar in Johannesburg and comments received were universally favourable. Following the training delegates felt that they were better prepared for the tests ahead.

Held over four consecutive days at the City University’s Fight for Sight Optometry Clinic in London, this new intensive course focuses directly on the exam syllabus; delegates will have an opportunity to experience a selection of the College’s practical exams held in real-time and under exam conditions.
All course tutors are experienced examiners with the College of Optometrists and delegates are provided with immediate feedback with individual onward learning objectives – it doesn’t get any closer to the real thing than this!
Additional lectures and interactive seminars place emphasis on exam format, exam techniques and pass/fail criteria and will provide delegates with the knowledge and understanding of UK based optometric practice.
Note: It is expected that all delegates will have registered their interest in taking the examination of Non-EEA Qualified Optometrists with the Education Coordinator at the College of Optometrists before attending this course.
